How to track recurring payments and subscriptions

In short: If you set up recurring items once and let them post on the due day, you stop retyping the same entry every month, and your budget counts upcoming payments from the start.

Why recurring payments matter

Rent, bills and subscriptions look small one by one, but together they can be most of your income. A subscription you no longer use quietly takes money every month.

Seeing these items on their own lets you build a realistic budget and notice the ones you do not need.

Tracking recurring payments, step by step

  1. List the regular items: salary, rent, bills, subscriptions, loan payments, a transfer to savings.
  2. For each, pick the first payment date and how often it repeats: daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly, every two months, every three months, every six months or yearly.
  3. Set it up once. With automatic posting on, the record is added on the due day; with it off, it lands in your list on the due day and you confirm it.
  4. Look at subscriptions separately. Consider cancelling those you have not used in the last month.
  5. Check the coming period. When upcoming payments are taken out before your budget, your daily amount comes out more accurate.

How Yetir makes it easier

In Yetir, items such as salary, rent, subscriptions and a transfer to a savings account are set up as recurring items. For each you choose the first payment date and how often it repeats; if "mark as paid automatically" is on, the record is posted on the due day by itself.

You can ask for a reminder before it is due. Reminders work in the phone and Mac apps; the browser version does not send notifications.
